2009 H1N1 Vaccine Updates
2009 H1N1 Vaccine Now Available
Emory Healthcare has received a limited supply of the 2009 H1N1 vaccine and will begin vaccinating patients who currently have an Emory Healthcare physician and are at increased risk of severe complications from 2009 H1N1 infection. According to the CDC, individuals in the following groups (the first being the priority group) are particularly at risk and should get vaccinated:
- Pregnant women
- People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
- Health care and emergency medical services personnel with direct patient contact
- Children 6 months through 4 years of age
- Children 5 through 18 years of age who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications
Other at-risk groups include:
- People 5 through 24 years of age
- People 25 through 64 years of age who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
Patients in these other at-risk groups will be vaccinated as the supply allows. To keep our patients and staff safe, Emory Healthcare is also beginning vaccination of health care workers, as recommended by CDC.
For more information on at-risk groups, visit the CDC Web site.
The 2009 H1N1 vaccine is available at a few of our clinic locations. Since the supply is limited, we are administering the vaccine only to current patients considered high priority by the CDC (see the priority group above, which is listed first). The below list of clinic locations have a current supply of the 2009 H1N1 vaccine. Please note that only one site is vaccinating children ages six months and above.
This Web site will be updated as more vaccine becomes available and we are able to offer it to individuals who do not fall into the group, which is the priority group, listed above. Please visit this site often.
If you fall within one of the at-risk groups listed above and you are not an Emory Healthcare patient, you may access the Georgia Division of Public Health H1N1 influenza vaccine provider locator.
