Welcome to the Emory Clinic LevelUp Volunteer Services Program

The Department of Patient Experience is committed to creating the ideal patient and family experience. To achieve and maintain this level of service excellence we are committed to identifying compassionate volunteers who give their valuable time, to share their knowledge and skills with our patients, families, and visitors to create a patient visit second to none.

Goal:

The goal of The Emory Clinic LevelUP Volunteer program is to partner with passionate individuals to provide the opportunity to LevelUPon their personal growth and professional development while assisting TEC efforts to create the ideal patient and family experience.

Get Involved

Volunteers at the Emory Clinic have the opportunity to assist in many ways to positively impact the patient experience, including wayfinding, assisting clinical departments, ensuring smooth patient flow, interacting with patients and their families, and interacting with staff, leaders, and care providers. Volunteer opportunities are available at various Emory Clinic Locations, including 1365 Clifton Road NE, Executive Park, Johns Creek and Midtown.

Program Options:

  • LevelUp VolunTeen Program 
    (Participants ages 14-17)
  • LevelUp (CEP) College Experience Program
    (Participants enrolled in college ages 18 - 30) 
  • LevelUp (AAP) Adult Program
    (Participant ages 31 - up)  

Program Requirements

As a part of Emory Healthcare compliance, the following are required to volunteer:

  • Background check
  • Flu vaccination
  • TB Screening

Hour Commitment Requirements

  • LevelUp VolunTeen Program:  4 hours max a week
  • LevelUp (CEP) College Experience Program:  8 hours max a week/4hour shifts a day
  • LevelUp (AAP) Adult Program: 4 hours minimum – 12 hour maximum a week

Volunteer Process:

The following steps will help you with beginning your journey to becoming a volunteer with The Emory Clinic. This process will give you all the necessary information needed for your term with The Emory Clinic and assist you with understanding our Emory culture and the resources available.

Recruitment

1. Complete the Volunteer application form

2. A volunteer coordinator will reach out to schedule an interview or send you a link to sign up for an interview via Signup Genius.

    After the application is submitted, contact will be made within 2 weeks, and or a message will be provided if the program is at capacity.

Orientation Prep

3. After the interview, the applicant will receive an email response within a week.

4. If accepted, the volunteer will receive the program manual or your next via email and you will have to complete the following:

    • Criminal background check form
    • Submit a form of ID
    • Tb authorization
    • Flu shot form

5. Select an orientation date

  • Please confirm if you will be email to attend the orientation date by accepting the calendar invite.

Phase 1 Orientation

6. On the Day of orientation, volunteers will receive:

    • Information about their 2nd phase of orientation
    • Training arrangement
    • A badge form
    • Volunteer uniform smock

Phase 2 Orientation

7.  Receive Badge

 8. Tour of the building by completing wayfinding

 9. Shadow guest services

Phase 3 Orientation

10. If you are assigned to a department outside of guest services, you will need to complete epic training.

Following Week

11. Continue to obtain volunteer hours with  guest services to achieve patient interactions.

Permanent Placement

12. If applicable to you, a clinic department placement email will be sent to the volunteers who have completed all 3 phases of orientation. Please note that clinic assignments are not guaranteed.

Absence Request

For all absence requests, please email EmoryClinicVolunteers@EmoryHealthcare.org within 48 hours of your shift. Please be aware that three unexcused absences within 3 months of your volunteer commitment may result in dismissal from the Emory Clinic Volunteer Program. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of submitting your request.

Letter of Recommendation

If you are interested in receiving a letter of recommendation, you must be in good standing with the volunteer program. Please submit this request at least three weeks before the due date of your letter. After you complete this form, you will receive a confirmation email from the Volunteer Program.
