The Emory Bariatric Center is designated as a Center of Excellence by most major health insurers. This designation is important for insured members of these plans seeking coverage for bariatric surgery.
Dr. Edward Lin Featured in Obesity Care News, September 2008
Dr. Lin was one of several obesity experts asked if people are capable of retraining their mind's desire for food. His extensive quotes included, "the trained calorie consumer requires simultaneous manipulation of nutrient intake biology (which would include surgical therapies) and psychosocial influences. Psychosocial influences on behavior must have equal importance with any surgical or pharmacologic weight-management program. Otherwise, patients may continue to be exposed to nonbiologic factors that trigger hunger."
Certified LAP-BAND® Proctor
In 2008, Dr. Lin was officially designated a LAP-BAND® proctor by Allergan, the multi-specialty health care company that originally developed the LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding System. As a proctor, Dr. Lin certifies surgeons in the procedure by observing their performance in the operating room.
