Beginning our second decade of treating obese patients, we have seen many people transform their health and their lives through bariatric surgery and medically-supervised weight management programs.

Emory Bariatric Center offers both surgical weight loss and nonsurgical weight loss options. Many insurance companies have designated Emory as a Level 1 Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and Emory University Hospital Midtown is also fully accredited by the American College of Surgeons Bariatric Surgery Center Network.

Our multidisciplinary team includes bariatric surgeons, medical bariatricians, dietitians, consulting psychologists and health fitness instructor. The strength of our weight loss program lies in the individualized approach and ongoing support including medical monitoring, wellness coaching, nutrition counseling, and support group meetings.

Consider our weight loss program for individuals with the following characteristics:

  • Overweight (BMI 25.0 - 29.9)
  • Class I, II, and III Obesity (BMI 30 and higher)
  • Co-morbidities associated with obesity, including: diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea, degenerative joint disease, infertility, PCOS
  • Patients who need to lose weight prior to orthopedic or organ transplant surgery
