Patients as Partners in Surgical Care

Sponsored by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), this site assists patients in making informed decisions about surgical care by offering resources regarding conditions, injuries, procedures and lab and test results. The site also includes links to clinical trial sites.

American Heart Association

An extremely comprehensive site that includes information on conditions, warning signs, procedures, lifestyle tips and more.

Heart Surgery Forum

This site contains original scientific reports; collective reviews, case reports and discussion forums by prominent surgeons; and surgical videos.

National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)

The NHLBI plans, conducts, fosters and supports an integrated and coordinated program of basic research, clinical investigations and trials, observational studies, and demonstration and education projects. Research is related to the causes, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart, blood vessel, lung and blood diseases. Site features include health assessment tools, educational tutorials, recipes for healthy eating, education campaigns, and information and publications on various conditions and diseases.
