Screening
If you would like to be considered for the islet transplant program at Emory University please contact us by phone or e-mail.

Phone number: 404-712-1114
Email: islets@emoryhealthcare.org

We will ask you a series of questions related to your general health and diabetes history. If you meet the screening criteria for inclusion into an islet research protocol we will send you a patient education booklet and application.

Application
After you have read the patient education booklet we ask that you send the completed application back to us at the following address:

1364 Clifton Road, NE
Room E426
Atlanta, GA 30322

We do not accept incomplete applications. Please be sure to complete the entire application before submitting it to us.

After we receive your application we will review it with the islet transplant team. If you are a potential candidate for islet transplantation you will be invited to a Patient Orientation session.

Patient Orientation
Patient orientation is a presentation delivered by the transplant team. At patient orientation you will learn about the available islet cell transplant research protocols and be able to ask questions about the islet transplant process. Attendance is required.

We conduct a patient orientation session approximately every three months.

After you have attended patient orientation we will ask you to sign the informed consent document to participate in an islet transplant research protocol. Once you have attended patient orientation and signed the informed consent document you will begin your islet transplant evaluation.
