Preparing for Surgery

Before your surgery, you will meet with a member of our anesthesia team. Your anesthesiologist will evaluate your medical history, your current health, and the type of surgery you will be undergoing before deciding on an anesthesia plan. It is important that you provide as much information as possible to your anesthesiologist, as anesthesia effects every part of your body! Your anesthesiologist needs to know of any significant medical illnesses that you have had or have. Be sure to tell your anesthesiologist if you or any of your family members have had adverse reactions to anesthesia, other medications, and/or a history of substance abuse! There are three main types of anesthesia. Your current health, medical history, and type of surgical procedure will determine the type of anesthesia you receive.
