Educating the next generation of physicians, providing outstanding patient care, and determining the causes, treatments, and cures for devastating diseases form the central three-part mission of the Emory School of Medicine. Private support from friends has always been vital in helping the School of Medicine and the Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery achieve these goals. Today, in a changing healthcare environment, philanthropic support is critical to the continued fulfillment of our mission. Academic medical institutions are increasingly under siege as they struggle to fulfill their missions and provide breakthroughs in basic science and clinical applications, in serving historically under-served, in preparing tomorrow's health care providers to function effectively and compassionately, and in meeting the demands of technological change.
