Translational Research
Staffed by medical faculty of the Emory University School of Medicine, Emory's interactive team of cardiovascular and heart health researchers uses knowledge gained in basic science research and applies it to clinical research. This process of connecting biological discoveries made in the laboratory with clinical research is called translational research — and it is crucial to the development of important new therapies, devices and protocols that directly impact patient care when it comes to cardiovascular health. The heart health center is the only program in Atlanta, and one of just a few in Georgia, to be involved in translational research, a fact that consistently propels Emory to the forefront of cutting-edge cardiovascular treatment and technology.
Superior Outcomes
As members of one of the leading heart health teams in the Southeast, Emory Heart & Vascular Center physicians perform a high volume of specialized procedures. Scientific research shows there is a direct relationship between the number of procedures performed and the number of successful outcomes. Additionally, the Emory Center for Outcomes Research (ECOR) focuses on improving standard practice cardiovascular health guidelines and clinical protocols in order to achieve the highest possible quality care for patients with, or at risk for, cardiovascular disease.
