Emory University is a leading clinical and basic research center for Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders. As a part of the Emory University, our Center serves as a major referral center for both adult and pediatric patients with the full spectrum of movement disorders for Atlanta, the state of Georgia, and for the Southeastern United States. And, our patients lives are improved from the synergy found in a setting like Emory, bringing together medical discoveries through research and the providing the newest, most beneficial treatments available.

Conditions we treat
The Emory Movement Disorders Center is the nation's first American Parkinson Disease Association Center of Excellence and the first Huntington's Disease Society of America Center of Excellence. Our comprehensive services and treatments include those for Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, dystonia, tremor, tic disorders, and other movement disorders.

Services and Treatment
Providing comprehensive services ranging from diagnosis to rehabilitation, our neurosurgeons, neurologists, psychologists and researchers work together to tailor treatment for the specific needs of each patient. We offer both functional neurosurgery for Parkinson's disease, tremor and dystonia and botulinum toxin injection for dystonia, hemifacial spasm, spasticity and other conditions. The Emory Movement Disorders Center also integrates outstanding neurological care with additional services such as psychiatric counseling, genetic counseling, and physical and speech therapy.

Exceptional experience
Emory's neurologists are on the fast track to learn more about what causes various movement disorders such as Parkinson's and Huntington's, and then apply this knowledge to help our patients. With over 5,000 movement disorder patients treated every year, our specialists are able to apply their research gained from knowledge day in and day out with their patients. And as they are able to give their undivided focus to only certain conditions, center physicians bring an acute know-how to their practice.

One of America's Best Hospitals
Emory University Hospital was ranked as one of America's Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report (2006). Eight specialty programs were among the top 50, including neurology and neurosurgery, which was ranked at #18 out of more than 5000 medical centers nationwide.
