Kenneth R. Mautner, MD

Dr. Kenneth MautnerDr. Mautner came to Emory in 2004, after completing his fellowship in Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. He majored in biology and psychology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He took a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Emory University School of Medicine, before completing his fellowship in Sports Medicine.

He was selected as Resident of the Year in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program in 2002-2003, and served as Chief Resident during the same period.

Dr. Mautner is active in such professional organizations as the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation, the Association of Academic Physiatrists, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the International Spinal Injection Society.

Dr. Mautner is also a specialist in evaluating and treating sports concussions. He has trained at the world renowned Sports Concussion Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in evaluating and utilizing computer based neuropsychologic testing. He is the first sports medicine doctor in the Atlanta area to incorporate this state-of-the-art testing into his routine evaluation of sports concussions.

Dr. Mautner sees a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injury patients and has a special interest in sports-related spine injuries and hip and groin problems in athletes. He currently serves as head team physician for Agnes Scott College and a team physician for Emory University Athletics.
