DID YOU KNOW?
The birth of Emory Crawford Long Hospital occurred on October 21, 1908 with the founding of the 26-bed Davis-Fischer Sanatorium. In 1911, Dr. E.C. Davis and Dr. Luther Fischer, the founders, moved the hospital to its present site. In 1918, Dr. E.C. Davis organized Atlanta doctors and nurses to form Emory Unit Base Hospital #43 to aid allied troops in World  War 1.	The David-Fischer Sanatorium	The Emory Crawford Long Hospital Campus
THROUGH THE YEARS: 1908-1919 IN ATLANTA
Postcard of Emory Crawford Long Hospital Campus	The Woodruff Building	In 1908, Prohibition returned to Atlanta after a statewide referendum, but in March that year, Atlanta slaoons won the right to sell "near beer." In 1914, the Educational Commission of the Methodist Church met in Atlanta to announce its decision to establish a university.  Emory College was designated the liberal arts division of the new university. On May 21, 1917, a devastating fire started in east Atlanta. There was one death and 300 acres and 1,938 houses were burned.
