Providing care for patients since 1975, the Carlyle Fraser Heart Center is an integral part of the Emory Heart Center, a comprehensive program of diagnostic tools, treatment modalities, rehabilitation, patient care and education.
Cardiologists at the Carlyle Fraser Heart Center take an innovative approach to diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease. By combining forces with cardiac and vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists and other experts in all areas of circulatory medicine, our cardiologists see to it that we provide the best treatments with the best outcomes for our patients.
The new Carlyle Fraser Heart Center, located on the fourth floor of the new hospital, includes:
Cardiac Catheterization Suites The cardiac catheterization suite accommodates Emory Crawford Long's five cardiac catheterization labs and two electrophysiology labs. This suite has access to a dedicated elevator for ease in transporting patients to and from other areas in the hospital. These are the most utilized and fastest growing catheterization labs in Atlanta.
Heart Center Facilities Heart Center facilities include two positron emission tomography (PET) scanners, two stress test rooms, three echocardiograph rooms, two nuclear medicine rooms, a dedicated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine and supporting patient and administrative spaces. The Heart Center performs one of the highest volumes of cardiac PET scans in the U.S.
Heart Center Cardiac Observation Unit This 21-bed unit is a new feature of the Carlyle Fraser Heart Center. Located adjacent to the cardiac catheterization suite and designed specific to the needs of the center's patients, this unit provides pre- and post-operative care for both invasive and non-invasive surgeries.
Center for Heart Failure Therapy A chronic condition affecting almost 5 million Americans and the number one cause of hospitalization in people ages 65 and older, heart failure is the primary target of the Center's educational focus. Here, patients receive cutting-edge medical therapies coupled with expert advice and education on how to make healthy choices in their everyday lives.
