Emory Launches Its Updated Shuttle Bus Network;
Announces the Arrival of 'Cliff'

ATLANTA (August 24) - Emory announces the expansion and new look of its shuttle bus network, effective August 2006. The shuttle bus network was expanded to provide transportation alternatives for Emory students, workers and members of the greater Clifton community. The shuttles will also have new, colorful logos and are named 'Cliff,' representing the Clifton community, a key transportation artery through the Emory campus.

"Cliff represents an improved shuttle network that is more responsive to the transportation patterns around Emory and one that will be more efficient to operate," said Laura Ray, associate vice president for transportation and parking, Emory University. "Not only are we introducing updated campus routes, but we will continue to adjust and expand our shuttle routes, as ridership warrants."

The new shuttle design, and shuttle name are being introduced in conjunction with the improved service provided to the community. Cliff represents a free, convenient and reliable transportation alternative that is available for anyone to use.

Cliff shuttles will appear beginning in late August. Cliff routes and schedules can be found at www.ridecliff.org. New routes will continue to be added over the next several months.

"A key goal for Emory is to increase the sustainability of our campus and our community. We are making significant investments in transportation alternatives that will reduce the number of single occupancy vehicles near Emory, said Mike Mandl, executive vice president, Emory University. "The expansion of transportation options is also a key tenet of the Clifton Community Partnership, a collaborative effort between Emory, neighborhood groups and businesses working to improve the vitality of our community."

"As the cost of commuting rises, we believe that Cliff will become more popular," added Laura Ray. "Cliff also allows people to move around Emory without the need to find parking or worry about driving in campus traffic."
