The Emory Healthcare Nurse Re-entry program allows nurses who have been away from the clinical arena for more than four years to get reinstated while being fully employed. Participants attend seminars and practice in a clinical setting for a minimum of 40 hours per week for 8 weeks.

- 107 hours of self study and classroom presentation
- 200 hours of individual preceptorship in clinical settings

- CPR
- Fundamentals of medical - surgical nursing
- Current nursing practice concepts
- Legal and ethical nursing and health care issues
- Communication and management skills
Safety issues
- Avoiding back injury for self and others
- Administering medications
- Equipment use
- Basic cardiology life support
- Infection control
- Chemical, electrical, radiological, biological and fire hazards
After completing the program, participants have opportunities to advance in many areas. Successful participants may apply for clinical residency programs in Perioperative, Critical Care, Maternal-Infant, Oncology, Emergency, or Med/Surg-Gerontological nursing, if they so choose.
