Most clinical and food service experiences are provided at EMORY HEALTHCARE (Emory University Hospital, Emory Crawford Long Hospital, Winship Cancer Institute and Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital).

Community experiences are also provided through programs and institutions outside the hospital environment, for example at dialysis centers, maternal and child health programs, diabetes practices and fitness centers).

Emory University Hospital

Emory University Hospital (EUH) is a 587-bed (including a 56-bed rehabilitation center) adult, tertiary care facility located on the Emory campus in northeast Atlanta. Emory University Hospital provides a full range of specialized care. EUH is recognized asone of the nation's leaders in cardiology and cardiac surgery, neurology, oncology, opthalmology, orthopaedics and transplantation. More than 29,000 inpatients and some 80,000 outpatients come to Emory University Hospital each year.

Emory University Hospital has been included in U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Hospitals" for eleven several yearas as one of the nation's top 10 cardiology centers.

Emory Crawford Long Hospital


Emory Crawford Long Hospital is a 583-bed community based tertiary care center located in Atlanta’s midtown. Emory Crawford Long Hospital is one of the nation's leading community-based, acute care teaching facilities. It also has an outstanding reputation in the fields of reconstructive surgery, maternal and infant care, orthopaedics and gastrointestinal diseases. More than 30,000 inpatients and 120,000 outpatients come to Emory Crawford Long Hospital each year.

 

Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital

Located less than a mile from the Emory University Hospital, Wesley Woods Center -- including Wesley Woods Outpatient Clinic, Budd Terrace nursing care facility and Wesley Woods Towers, is the geriatric specialty component of Emory Healthcare. Older adults throughout Georgia and the southeast receive hope, help and care through Wesley Woods.

Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital is a uniquely designed, 100-bed acute care hospital and outpatient clinic for older adults. The hospital was established in 1987 as the first comprehensive outpatient and acute care facility of its kind to specialize in the fastest growing segment of the population -- aging adults.

 

Community-Based Environments

To provide a broad range of experiences in the community and in food service management, rotations are also scheduled outside the hospital environment. Currently experiences are provided in maternal and child health program, health and wellness promotion, outpatient diabetes counseling office, and an international charter school. Other sites may be added when the opportunity to provide an in-depth and enriching experience for interns exists.

Health and Wellness: Blomeyer Health Fitness Center at Emory Health
Occupying 14,000 square feet on the top floor of Emory's 1525 Clifton Building, the Blomeyer Health Fitness Center offers a panorama of health-enhancing options as well as panoramic views of the Emory campus. Professionally staffed, easily accessible, reasonably priced, and offering the latest equipment and amenities, the Blomeyer Health Fitness Center at Emory takes health and well-being to new heights.

Emory Bariatrics
Emory Bariatrics helps their patients reach their goal of improved health through a multidisciplinary approach to weight management. Their approaches include nutrition and excercise therapy, lifestyle education, pharmacotherapy and weight loss surgery.

The Atlanta Diabetes Project
The Atlanta Diabetes Project is a specialized clinical education program developed and operated by Diabetes & Endocrinology Associates, P.C. Their specialized in-house services include nutrition and diabetic counseling, as well as group education classes. Their Diabetes Education Classes, including nutrition classes taught by registered and licensed dietitians, are recognized with approval from the American Diabetes Association.
