Pastoral care can be an important part of healing and living. The department of pastoral services offers pastoral care to patients, residents, family and staff through:

  • Visitation
  • Devotionals and worship
  • Consultation and referral
  • Grief counseling
  • Memorial services
  • Clinical pastoral education
  • Community education on spiritual issues of aging
  • Confidential individual consultation and referral
  • Staff support groups
  • Conflict resolution
  • Continuing staff education on spiritual, ethical and moral issues

Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for support, conversation, prayers and sacraments/ordinances.  Your own minister, priest, rabbi or other spiritual support provider is always welcome to visit. 

At Emory University Hospital, our religious center and chapel are located on the second floor. A hospital chaplain is available to visit with patients and family members. You may reach the chaplain by calling 404-712-7200 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. After 5 p.m. and on weekends, ask the operator to page 1-3002. Bibles and other spiritual resources are available in patient rooms or in the chaplain's office.

At Emory Crawford Long Hospital, the pastoral services office and interdenominational chapel are located on the first floor of the Davis-Fischer building. A hospital chaplain is available 24 hours a day to visit with patients and family members. You may reach the chaplain between 7:30 a.m.and 4 p.m. by calling 404-686-2408 and after hours by calling the operator and asking him/her to page the chaplain at 11201. Devotional and inspirational literature is available in pastoral services' office.

At Wesley Woods Center, our office of Pastoral Services is located in the Wesley Woods Health Center. There is a chapel at the Geriatric Hospital that is available 24 hours a day for prayer and meditation. Chapels also are available in the Towers and at Budd Terrace for scheduled worship services and special events.  There are regularly scheduled Sunday services and Vespers. You may reach the chaplain by calling 404-728-6467.  Complimentary copies of Holy Scriptures and devotional materials are always available to patients and residents on request.
