Recurrent Miscarriage

It is estimated that miscarriages occur in approximately 15 percent of recognized pregnancies. The incidence is higher in women greater than 35 years of age.

Many factors can cause a miscarriage, including:

  • Chromosomal (genetic) problems
  • An abnormal uterus
  • Blood clotting abnormalities
  • Infection, hypothyroidism
  • Diabetes
  • Drug use

Couples who have experienced two or more miscarriages may want to undergo testing to determine whether there is a correctable cause of their losses. A complete evaluation of a couple with recurrent miscarriages would include hormonal testing, immune testing, uterine testing, and genetic counseling and testing.

Call 404-778-3401 to make an appointment with one of our fertility specialists.
