Our birthing center has combined all maternity services on one floor, including labor and delivery, mother-baby suites and general and special care nurseries. The center is specifically designed to uphold and carry out our unique philosophy of developmentally supportive care, a highly-specialized and nurturing care that encourages family involvement and ensures the best development of infants. We were the first to bring this philosophy, originally developed for premature infants, to the south, and today we apply it to the care of all our newborns.

In a soothing, home-like setting, parents will receive expert attention coupled with a caring atmosphere that will make the experience of bringing life into the world extra special. Noted for our care of premature infants, the neonatal intensive care unit has tripled in size and offers special rooming-in suites with access to a family lounge and kitchen amenities. Each of our 36 private mother-baby suites, decorated with the mother in mind, has 24-hour accommodations for parents to spend time with their new baby, an oversized exterior window to provide natural light and a comfortable sleeping area for fathers.

HOSPITAL TOURS
Emory Crawford Long Hospital encourages you, your support person and other important family members to tour the hospital and see what makes having a baby at Emory Crawford Long Hospital so special!

Tours of our labor, delivery and recovery unit (LDR), mother/baby suites and nursery provide new families the opportunity to see our facilities. Tours are offered at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on the first, second and third Thursday of each month except on recognized legal holidays. Meet your guide in the maternity center waiting area.
