Emory Neurology

Above is a PET scan of the brain of a patient who suffers from frontotemporal dementia. This degenerative disease affects the frontal and anterior temporal lobes of the brain and is marked by changes in personality and behavior. The reduction of activity in the affected areas is evidenced by the lack of red and yellow in the upper portion of the image.
