Non-Surgical Facial Procedures at Emory Aesthetic Surgery Center

Skin Care Program
The Emory Aesthetic Surgery Center has a complete skin care consulting program designed to improve the appearance and complexion of skin for patients who are not ready for surgery. All care is performed by a licensed aesthetician under doctor supervision.
Microdermabrasion:
This painless skin resurfacing technique is performed by a specialized nurse or aesthetician and does not require anesthetics. It can be used to treat blemishes and fine wrinkles during an office visit.
Microdermabrasion improves the outer layer of skin, producing a younger, brighter complexion and can be used to prepare the face for laser resurfacing or a chemical peel. Recovery time is immediate, and makeup can be applied a few hours after treatment.
BOTOX:
This now famous procedure has proven to be a safe and effective alternative to traditional plastic surgery, although the results are more short-lived and less dramatic. It has been most successful at reducing the visibility of frown lines between the eyebrows as well as crow’s feet around the eyes.
The results are excellent. But depending on the patient, the injections will need to be repeated every three to six months to maintain the desired look.
Chemical Peel:
A chemical peel can provide a more youthful complexion for patients who may not be ready for surgery. It can be used to remove pre-cancerous skin lesions or soften acne scars. Some face lift patients also may choose to use a chemical peel to enhance results.
The procedure is conducted with different types of chemical solution to smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing damaged outer layers. The chemical to be used depends on the desired results.
A milder form of chemical peel uses alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs) to treat fine wrinkles, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is used for deeper wrinkles and more aggressive skin conditions.
Cosmetic Tattooing:
This is tattooing that is specifically designed to create permanent makeup such as eyebrows, lip lines, eyeliner, or full lipstick. This procedure also can be used to camouflage scars.
Camouflage Makeup:
Emory Aesthetic Surgery Center offers a complete line of “camouflage” makeup. This is designed to conceal bruising and minimize the appearance of swelling after surgery, laser treatment or a chemical peel. This service is part of the standard treatment plan for patients undergoing all types of surgery at Emory Aesthetic Surgery Center.
