PROCEDURES
- Computed Tomography (CT) is an x-ray scan that utilizes a computer to produce cross-sectional images of the body.
- Image-Guided Biopsy is the removal of a sample of tissue or cells from the body by a radiologist using an imaging method such as CT, ultrasound or fluoroscopy to locate the biopsy site.
- CTA: Computed Tomographic Angiography is an effective procedure to verify suspected ischemic vascular lesions or define vascular anatomy such as aneurysms anywhere along the neurovascular axis (from transverse aortic arch to the Circle of Willis) in a relatively non-invasive manner. Specific uses include:
- Occlusive disease of the carotids
- Neurosurgical planning
- Ischemic cerebral vascular disease
- Reconstructive surgery
- Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) is a study of the blood vessels using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRA produces very detailed two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) images of the blood vessels and other parts of the body using radio waves and a strong magnetic field instead of using x-rays.
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses magnetic waves to make pictures of the inside of the body. Using a large magnet, radio waves and a computer, an MRI produces two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) pictures.
