Rehabilitation Neuropsychology

 

The Division of Rehabilitation Neuropsychology offers coordinated care for changes in thinking, behavior, and emotions resulting from brain injury, stroke, neurological disease, or medical illness.  Services are available for people in all phases of recovery, from acute assessment and treatment to long-term lifestyle adjustment.

Neuropsychological Assessment Neuropsych Clinical Testing

Behavioral Health Assessment

 A behavioral health assessment identifies psychological factors that may be affecting recovery from diseases and other health conditions.  A behavioral health assessment also identifies psychological problems that may be caused or exacerbated by medical conditions.    Our areas of expertise include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Adjustment to disability
  • Chronic pain
  • Recommendations for rehabilitation and medical management

Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy        Clinical Cognitive Rehabilitation

Cognitive rehabilitation therapy (CRT) is a treatment for individuals who have decreased independence because of impairments in attention, memory, and problem solving.  In CRT, patients learn techniques to compensate for cognitive limitations.  CRT helps patients perform at their personal best in home, work, or school settings.  We treat problems in the following areas:

  • Attention
  • Memory
  • Thinking skills

Psychotherapy and Behavioral ManagementClincial Therapy

Psychotherapy and behavioral management help individuals understand and manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.  Psychologists provide guidance and support in talking about experiences, examining options, identifying factors affecting motivation, identifying and dealing with factors that cause and sustain problem behaviors, and devising plans to achieve desired goals.  In achieving these goals, psychologists may work with individuals, families, or groups.  Our areas of expertise include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Adjustment to cognitive and physical limitations
  • Medical adherence
  • Management of behavioral disturbances
  • Pain management
  • Sexual functioning in conditions that cause neurological disability

Office Location and Hours
The Division of Rehabilitation Neuropsychology is located in the Emory Center for Rehabilitation Medicine, 1441 Clifton Road Northeast.  Valet parking is available.  Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

 

Payment and Insurance
Charges for services are billed through The Emory Clinic.  The Emory Clinic accepts Medicare, private insurance, and most managed care plans.  We are happy to assist in determining coverage for services.
