Past Athletic Training Fellowship Class and Job Placement
The Emory Sports Medicine Team would like to thank and congratulate our past Athletic Training Fellows. We are proud of the professionals they have become and support their future endeavors to help promote the field of athletic training. We would also like to thank Ossur America for their support and vision to continue to improve the field of sports medicine.

James Pratt MS, ATC, LAT, PES, OTC
After leaving his Fellowship, James moved west to Lake Tahoe, California. He is currently working as the clinical Athletic Trainer working with Terrence Orr MD, a Knee & Shoulder Specialist and Team Physician for the United States Men's Alpine Ski Team, at The Tahoe Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic. James is assisting Dr Orr in the clinic operations seeing patients, taking histories, evaluating patient's injuries, casting, splinting, and presenting his findings to the physician. He also teaches patients home exercise programs and pre-op and post-operative care. James spends two days a week in Physical Therapy instructing and monitoring patients' rehabilitation while he is waiting for credentialing to start assisting Dr Orr in the operating room. |

Stephanie McNamara M.Ed, ATC, LAT, CSCS, OTC
Stephanie accepted a position with Gregory Slappey, MD at Carrollton Orthopaedics. The busy practice involves not only Sports Medicine, but also joint replacement and trauma related injuries. Her responsibilities include performing physical exams, casting, and bracing in the clinic as well as serving as a surgical assist for Dr. Slappey and his partners at two hospital locations. Stephanie is grateful for the experiences she had while at Emory Sports Medicine and will continue to apply the skills she learned within all aspects of an orthopaedic practice. |

Jessi Prahl MS, ATC, LAT, CSCS, PES, OTC
After leaving the AT Fellowship at Emory, Jessi went to Nepal for two months on a health care related mission. Once Jessi arrived back to Georgia, she accepted a position in Cumming, Georgia with Dr. Eric Steenlage at the Dominion Orthopedic Clinic. Her duties are to assist Dr. Steenlage with clinic responsibilities as well as, once credentialed, assisting in the operating room with surgical cases. Her responsibilities will include taking patient histories, performing physical exams, casting, bracing, scheduling surgeries, and she has also taken on some administrative duties for the practice. |

Payton Haynes MBA, ATC, LAT, OTC
Payton left the Southeast and move cross country to the Northwest to accept a position working with Brad V. Butler, MD at The Orthopedic & Fracture Clinic in Portland, OR. His primary duties include seeing patients in the clinic and first assistant in the operating room to Dr. Butler. Payton is also responsible for coordinating the Orthopedic Prompt Care Walk-in Clinic, seeing patients with acute orthopedic injuries with 12 other physicians in the practice, as well as, developing promotions and marketing for the clinic, he also provides athletic training coverage for a local sports team the Rose City Rollers. |

Christin R. Chamberlain MA, ATC, LAT, OTC
Christin will be staying in Atlanta with her husband who is currently an ATC at The Lovett High School also in Atlanta. Christin will be working at Grady Memorial Hospital in the sports medicine department with Scott Kimmerly, MD. Christin’s responsibilities will include seeing patients in clinic, taking histories and doing physical exams, casting, splinting and bracing. She will also be assisting Dr Kimmerly in the operating room. Christin has been a rotational ATC for US Soccer Federation national and development teams during her fellowship. |

Hunter Greene MS, ATC, LAT, OTC
Hunter accepted a position with Kevin Plancher, MD, at Plancher Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Hunter will be splitting time between both practices in Greenwich, CT, and New York City, NY. He will be assisting Dr. Plancher and his partners in both the operating room and seeing patients in clinic. Hunter will also be responsible for their DME business and help in the endeavors of Dr. Plancher’s Foundation: The Orthopaedic Foundation for Active Lifestyles http://www.ofals.org. During his fellowship, Hunter was able to travel with the US Men’s National Soccer Team and be a part of two international matches. |

Shaina Lane, M.Ed, ATC, LAT, OTC
After the fellowship, Shaina spent several months working at a private practice in Tennessee before returning to Emory Sports Medicine. Shaina was recruited back to us, here at Emory, and now serves as a clinical coordinator in the sports medicine department and co-program coordinator for the Emory Sports Medicine-Ossur Athletic Training Fellowship. Shaina also assist’s Emory Sports Medicine physicians in the operating room at various Emory Hospitals. |

Mary Katherine Martin, MS, ATC, LAT, OTC
Mark Katherine (MK) accepted a position at the University of Wisconsin at Madison Orthopaedic clinic. She will join a host of other AT’s working in the physician practice. MK’s main responsibility will be working with Robert Ablove, MD, a hand and wrist specialist, she will also be spending time working with the physicians in the sports medicine practice. MK will be primarily working in the clinic with her physicians seeing patients, taking histories and doing physical exams as an orthopaedic athletic trainer. MK was able to be a rotational ATC for the United States Soccer Federation National Teams while completing her fellowship. |

Jeff Henefeld M.Ed, ATC, LT, OTC
Jeff was offered a position with Dr. Burt Mandelbaum at the famous Santa Monica Orthopaedic Group. Jeff is presently clinic manager for Dr. Mandelbaum, taking care of patient education, post-op instructions, seeing patients in the clinic, and working on clinical research projects. He is also the liaison between Dr. Mandelbaum and the United States Soccer Federation and MLS teams: LA Galaxy and Chivas USA. |

Ashley Kane MS, ATC, LAT, OTC
Ashley stayed on site and was employed as a full-time staff member at the Emory Sports Medicine Center. Ashley's responsibilities will be to manage daily clinical operations for Dr. Ken Mautner. Ashely will also assist Dr. Mautner with his concussion research and diagnostic ultrasound evaluations. Ashley is a rotational ATC (Certified Athletic Trainer) for the United States Ski and Snowboard Association Freestyle Teams; her first trip came during her fellowship year. |

Erika Mott MS, ATC, LAT, OTC
After finishing her fellowship, Erica stayed in Atlanta and took a Position at Peachtree Orthopaedics, working for Michael Bernot MD. She assisted Dr Bernot in both the clinic operations and in the operating room as his surgical assistant. Erica, in her move back home to the NE, took a position in medical sales and currently sells Interventional Critical Care products and is working throughout the five borrows of New York City. |

Anola Womack MBA, ATC, LAT, OTC
Anola, after her fellowship, took a 3 month travel sabbatical to Australia. Upon returning she came back to Emory for 19 months working clinically and in the OR with Dr Gary McGillivary at Emory Orthopaedic and Spine Center. She has since accepted a position with Dr Rob Rolf, a former Emory Orthopaedic resident, at Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio. Anola is assisting Dr Rolf, in both the clinic, seeing patients, casting and bracing, taking patient histories and physical exams, and pre-certing and scheduling surgeries. She will also be assisting Dr Rolf for all of his surgical cases in the operating room. |

CLASS OF 2005

J. Chad Knight MS, ATC, LAT, OTC
Upon completion of his fellowship, Chad accepted a position at Carrollton Orthopaedics, in Carrollton, Georgia, for Gregory S. Slappey, MD. Chad originally interviewed for a P.A. position, and worked with Dr. Slappey in the clinic and as his operating room assistant. The clinic sponsored Chad to pursue his MBA in Health Administration, which he completed in the spring of 2008. Chad stayed in Carrollton and is currently the Director of Oncology Servies for the Tanner Health System.

Robin Kleimon MS, ATC, LAT, OTC
Robin is presently working for Children's Health Care of Atlanta. She is working at Milton High School in the afternoons and working as a physician extender in the mornings with the physicians in the practice. |
