Shaina Lane M.Ed, ATC, LAT, OTC

Shaina, a native of Wyoming, Michigan, completed her undergraduate degree at Grand Valley State University. She majored in Physical Education, with a double emphasis in Fitness/Wellness and Athletic Training. She went on to complete a graduate assistantship at Auburn university, working as the head athletic trainer for the women’s softball team and earning a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration with a minor in Sports Management.

Shaina returned home to serve as the assistant athletic trainer for Grand Valley State for three years, covering 19 varsity sports and caring for approximately 600 athletes. Her primary responsibility was taking care of men’s and women’s basketball, and in her last year there, football. She also coordinated Grand Valley’s weekly orthopaedic clinic with the team surgeons.  Throughout her years at Grand Valley, she was able to volunteer as part of the medical staff for the Michigan Special Olympics Winter and Summer Games.

In 2006, Shaina applied, and was accepted, to the Emory Sports Medicine — OSSUR Fellowship. She spent that year working alongside the physicians at Emory Sports Medicine, enhancing her clinical evaluation skills as well as learning how to assist in the operating room. After the fellowship, she spent several months working at a private practice in Tennessee before returning to Emory Healthcare as a clinical coordinator in the sports medicine department, and program coordinator for the Emory Sports Medicine-Ossur Athletic Training Fellowship.
