If you become seriously ill during your trip, contact your tour guide, consulate or American Embassy representative for advice in obtaining competent local health care. Foreign pharmacies are not always the best place to seek advice because foreign drugs may be completely different than those in the United States. Attention to pre-trip health advice should help you avoid most problems while away.

On Your Return Home
Once you return home, we suggest you call Travel Well if you are experiencing any illness. Specialists are available to answer questions and see you if needed. Remember, a fever after a return from the tropics should be evaluated, especially a fever after a return from a malarious area. Some problems may not manifest themselves until several weeks or even months later. It always is important for your physician to know your travel history when diagnosing illnesses experienced on return from other countries.

The staff at Travel Well hopes your travel experiences are all good and also hopes these tips for a healthy trip will be beneficial to you. We recommend you keep this information in your travel bag or other handy place throughout your trip.

Remember to send us a postcard and let us know how you are enjoying your trip! We like to keep track of the travelers we advise and enjoy knowing you are having a good time!
