Breast Health Links

The Internet is replete with information on cancer and its treatment. Navigating this information can be a bewildering experience. Winship Cancer Institute recognizes the following organizations for having clear, credible and accessible information on cancer:

The National Cancer Institute gives you a portal page on cancer topics, including the Physicians Data Query (PDQ.), NCI's comprehensive cancer database, and access to all approved clinical trials in the U.S. NCI is the federal government's principal agency for cancer research and training.

CancerQuest provides excellent lessons on the biology of cancer. CancerQuest is a service by Winship Cancer Institute in partnership with the Georgia Cancer Coalition and Emory University.

The American Cancer Society offers another gateway to a wide array of information on the prevention and treatment of cancer, as well as research information. The Glossary section is an especially helpful tool. The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary organization.

For more than 20 years, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs. Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure., the Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world.
