Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital has 17 Medical Acute Care beds. Medical and neurology patients admitted to these beds usually remain for an average stay of five days or less. Common conditions for which a patient may be admitted to a Medical bed include:
Pneumonia
Urinary Tract Infection
Deep Vein Thrombosis
Pulmonary Emboli
Dehydration
Pain
Weakness and Instability
Patients on the Medical Acute Care Unit are generally those who have been under the care of one of the Emory physicians at the Wesley Woods Geriatric Outpatient Clinic. When they leave the hospital, their care will most likely be managed again in the Outpatient clinic. Moving from an outpatient setting to an inpatient unit and back again within the same facility enhances the ability of the staff to provide excellent continuity in care delivery.
