Each year, Atlanta magazine and a team of physician-led researchers employ a meticulous process to determine the top doctors in Atlanta. The methodology for determining who places on this prestigious list involves surveying physicians to see who they themselves would choose for medical care. This year, 97 of the 251 doctors honored in the Atlanta Top Doctors list are Emory Healthcare doctors and Emory School of Medicine faculty. New PET/CT Scanner Offers Earlier Detection and Faster Scans
A new combined imaging system that promises earlier disease detection and faster and more comfortable scans is now being used exclusively for cancer patients at Emory University Hospital Midtown. The new device fuses PET (Positron Emission Tomography) and CT (Computed Tomography) images together, allowing physicians to see the exact location of the disease, its size, nature and extent of the disease.
