Emory Healthcare makes UHC Quality Hospital Rankings History!

UHC Hospital Quality Rankings Emory HospitalsOur priority at Emory Healthcare is to provide high quality health care that is truly patient-centered. Five years ago, we implemented a five-year strategic goal to hold ourselves accountable to our priorities. That goal was to rank among the top academic medical centers in UHC, an alliance of 114 academic medical centers and 255 hospitals affiliated with those centers. Not only did we achieve our goal, but the 2011 UHC rankings mark the first time in UHC history that two facilities from the same system have placed as highly as Emory Healthcare's facilities did in this year's hospital quality rankings. Steve Jobs, Pancreatic Cancer & the Whipple Procedure

Dr. Kooby

Most of you have probably heard the news that Steve Jobs has stepped down as Apple’s CEO. As he puts it, “I’ve always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.” After receiving his pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer diagnosis, Jobs underwent surgery known as a pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure) in 2004 to remove his cancer.

You want your chair and work station to fit you properly. Here are a few tips to help get you started.

Heart Transplant Patient Shares the Love

Lester Crowell

Not many people can say they’ve had multiple hearts in their lifetime, but one grateful Emory Transplant Center patient can and is now working to make it possible for others to say the same. On Sunday, July 17, over 400 guests attended the first annual “Angels of Life” Hair and Fashion Show held by Three-13 Salon, Spa and Boutique of Marietta. The event raised over $31,000 for the Georgia Transplant Foundation and was planned by Lester Crowell, Emory patient and managing partner of Three-13 Salon. Share his story.
