Every once in awhile, you meet someone so special that they become part of you forever. For 23-year-old Emory kidney transplant patient Clay Taber, that person is Allison Batson, RN – literally. Though Clay’s blood type is rare, Allison was tested to be an organ donor for Clay and proved to be a match. On Tuesday, January 10, Allison’s kidney was removed and transplanted into Clay’s body. We are proud to welcome a new female cardiologist, Alexis Cutchins, MD, to the Emory Heart & Vascular Center. Dr. Cutchins has provided a great recipe to help us eat healthier for our hearts! This light, low-calorie meal fits well into a Mediterranean diet that highlights the use of olive oil, lots of vegetables, legumes, fresh fruits, unrefined cereals, moderate consumption of dairy (mostly cheese and yogurt), moderate fish, and low amounts of chicken and red meat.
