Laser LASIK Technology
Z-LASIK / FEMTO LDV Surgical Laser
If you’re looking for accurate, safe and comfortable laser refractive surgery, Z-LASIK may be the procedure of choice for you. Z-LASIK corrects your vision using laser surgery from beginning to end. No scalpel will touch your eyes. The risk of complication is reduced even further as compared to previous LASIK techniques. Additionally, using the Z-LASIK method improves the quality of post-operative vision.
How does the laser LASIK procedure work?
When using the femtosecond laser during a LASIK procedure, the
surgeon creates a thin flap in the cornea and lifts it. Then, with
another laser called excimer, the surgeon reshapes the underlying
tissue. The flap is then lowered and it heals itself without stitches.
To
prepare the flap on the surface of the eye in the first part of the
procedure, LASIK surgeons use the FEMTO LDV laser. Traditionally this
was done by microkeratome, which is a mechanical device using a blade.
With the FEMTO LDV laser we eliminate the need for a blade. The
femtosecond laser fires tens of millions of micro pulses under the
surface of the cornea to create an ultra thin flap. The whole LASIK
procedure is 100% bladefree!
Since the cornea is as distinctive
as a fingerprint, with the Z-LASIK method we are able to tailor the
LASIK procedure according to the very unique characteristics of each
patient to get a truly personalized treatment for each of our LASIK
patients.
