Pre-Orientation Activities

As outlined in your offer letter, there are several key steps you will need to take prior to beginning employment. Be sure you have completed all of the following by the first day of New Employee Orientation:

Pre-orientation Paperwork

Your first stop is your Human Resources office. Please arrive at the HR office one hour prior to your scheduled health assessment appointment. During your visit to HR, you will complete many of the forms located in this packet, including important tax documents and benefits enrollment information. Please bring two forms of identification with you to HR to complete your paperwork. For a list of acceptable forms of identification, please consult the I-9 form located on the left-side pocket of your new hire packet.

Please note: Emory Healthcare only participates in direct deposit; paper checks are not issued. A bank account is required to receive your paycheck. If you are in need of a bank account at Emory Healthcare, please consult the Emory Alliance Credit Union flier, located in the right-side pocket of your new hire packet, as an available option to receive your paycheck.

Health Assessment

All employees are required to complete a health assessment prior to employment. Your health assessment is completed at Employee Health. As instructed in your offer letter, you must schedule your health assessment appointment in advance. Your HR representative will be able to direct you to the nearest Employee Health location where you can complete your health assessment.

Employee Identification Badge

To ensure the safety and security of staff and patients, you are required to wear an official Emory Healthcare photo ID badge at all times during work hours. Your ID badge may be obtained at either Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory University Hospital, Emory Johns Creek Hospital or Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. The staff at Employee Health can direct you to the nearest location.

Parking or MARTA

Parking is available throughout Emory Healthcare. You must obtain the appropriate parking devices to use these facilities. Emory Healthcare subsidizes a large portion of parking costs for all employees. Depending upon the location of your assigned parking facility, parking may be at no cost to you or available at a subsidized rate. You may also opt to choose a MARTA pass in lieu of parking. The staff at Employee Health can direct you to the nearest parking office.

Emory Shuttle
Emory provides a shuttle service between Emory University parking decks and work sites, Emory University, Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Decatur Plaza and Grady Hospital. Shuttle routes and times vary. A complete list of route information is available through security services at Emory University Hospital and at the main lobby concierge desk. At Emory University Hospital Midtown, shuttle schedules are available at security services and at the guest services desk in the main lobby. There is also shuttle service to Emory Wesley Woods Center from Emory University Hospital.

NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION

We understand starting a new job can be overwhelming. That’s why all new employees can expect a minimum of two days of orientation in which they receive a breadth of information about our goals and structure. The first day of orientation, known as New Employee System Orientation, will focus on the entire Emory Healthcare system. Day two will cover orientation specific to your operating unit. You will learn much more about day two during New Employee System Orientation.

  • Important Points to Remember
    • New Employee System Orientation begins promptly at 7:30 a.m. and ends at approximately 4:30 p.m. Plan enough time to find parking and arrive at the orientation location before the session begins. Lunch will be provided on day one.
    • Dress appropriately. Professional business attire is required during orientation. You received information regarding proper dress in your offer letter. Our dress code will also be discussed during day one.
    • If New Employee System Orientation is located at your home base, please park in your designated lot. If your primary work location is elsewhere, you may park in visitor parking; we will provide parking validation before the end of the session.
