About Us
Our Culture
Emory Healthcare team members have the opportunity to collaborate with the best and brightest minds in the field and are encouraged to embark upon their own research and personal and professional development. Our partnerships with the Emory University Schools of Nursing, Medicine and Public Health – as well as our collaboration with local and national research institutions – naturally provide an environment conducive to development and learning. Since Emory Healthcare is the only fully integrated academic medical center in Atlanta, our staff has the opportunity to redefine the way in which patient care is provided locally, nationally and around the globe.

Our Diversity
As one of our employees so eloquently stated, Emory Healthcare is “like a little United Nations. You see people here from all walks of life. It really creates an atmosphere of diversity.” (View his complete Emory Healthcare employee video.) The diversity at Emory Healthcare opens up a world of knowledge – both of medicine and new cultures. Employees of multiple nationalities and cultures work side-by-side, sharing experiences and information. They have the opportunity to explore new cultures, understand different customs and use that information to provide better, more culturally sensitive care.
Our Commitment to Transforming Care
Emory Healthcare relies upon the expertise of our team members to find better, safer, more efficient ways to partner with patients and families. Our approach to patient care is not to provide care to patients, but to partner with them to create an optimal care plan tailored to their needs. To do so, requires a collaborative team open to authentic dialogue and new ideas.
Our Commitment to a Safe Environment
The Emory Healthcare quality promise to our patients is to provide impeccable clinical outcomes, delivered safely with outstanding service. To fulfill our promise, we recognize the importance of setting specific goals and selecting and prioritizing activities and projects that are aligned with our mission "To Serve Humanity by Improving Health," and are driven by data, benchmarks and best practices. Achievement of these goals requires not only meaningful metrics, but also improvement skills and tools and a supportive and aligned workplace culture.
For example, we are so committed to patient and employee safety that we place keen focus on eliminating preventable health care-associated infections and maintaining the health and wellness of our staff. Just a few of our safety initiatives include:
- Influenza vaccination: The annual influenza vaccine is mandated for all Emory Healthcare employees.
- Hand hygiene: All of our team members commit to proper hand hygiene procedures.
- Patient safe handling: Measures, such as the installation of lift equipment, are taken to ensure safety for our patients and team members.
- Occupational Injury Management and Employee Health: Employees have access to both Occupational Injury Management and Employee Health for quick response when needed. Employees also take part in an annual health assessment and have access to on-site Express Care Clinics.
- Education modules: To ensure an organization-wide understanding of proper safety procedures, employees complete annual regulatory/safety/compliance education modules.
