Certified Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician (COA/COT)

Certified ophthalmic assistants at the award-winning Emory Eye Center of Emory Healthcare provide both routine and specialized ophthalmic testing and procedures, primarily at the center’s main site located on The Emory Clinic campus on Clifton Road near Emory University and Emory University Hospital.

Positions require JCAHPO certification as a certified ophthalmic assistant, high school diploma and one year of related experience.

Food Services Hospitality

Members of the Emory Healthcare patient hospitality team prepare food or beverages, set up trays, deliver patient trays, assist with patient menu selections and provide patient nourishment – all with exceptional customer service and adherence to all safety and infection control policies.

These valued team members – individuals committed to patient service and care – also may operate a cash register, assist with catering activities, or are trained to help with cooking and baking. Some team members operate the automatic pot and dishwashing machines and maintain clean and sanitary food preparation areas.

Long-Term Care Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Certified nursing assistants at Budd Terrace, one of the top long-term care facilities in the nation, are front-line members of the nursing team and provide patient care under the direct supervision of the charge nurse. Example responsibilities include:

  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living

  • Carrying out nursing care measures as delegated

  • Assisting residents with general hygiene, such as bath, shower, grooming and mouth/denture care

  • Assisting with elimination via urinals, bedpans, bowel and/or bladder programs, and may collect urine and stool specimens

  • Being able to assist with post-mortem care

  • Preparing residents for meals, including feeding

  • Helping in the admission, transfer and discharge of residents

  • Transporting or walking residents as requested and making beds (both occupied and unoccupied)

  • Care planning and giving/taking reports on assigned residents

  • Maintaining records and inventories

  • Answering phones as requested

  • Returning equipment and ensuring it is properly labeled

  • Maintaining a clean and safe unit/environment for residents and co-workers

Medical Assistant

At Emory Healthcare, members of our medical assistant team thrive in long-term careers dedicated to excellent patient care and service to our patients and their families. In particular, medical assistants at The Emory Clinic (specialists, sub-specialists and primary care practices) partner with physicians and clinical staff in conducting procedures, determining vital signs, collecting specimens and obtaining patient information. They also may have the opportunity to cross-train in a variety of other work functions, such as front office practices.

Patient Services

At Emory Healthcare, members of our patient services team thrive in an environment of customer service and patient advocacy. They are an important part of the Emory Healthcare team and ensure patients and their families receive exceptional service.

New members of the patient services team will receive four weeks of interactive training covering such topics as medical terminology and customer service. Phlebotomy

Within the state-of-the-art hospital and ambulatory outpatient clinic laboratories at Emory Healthcare, members of the phlebotomy team collect, label and process patient specimens for testing. They have responsibilities for patient registration and test ordering. In addition, they apply exceptional customer service and their knowledge of safety and infection control policies to maintain computerized records, as well as resolve and troubleshoot outstanding specimens/collections.

Physician Assistant

The talented physician assistants at Emory Healthcare are an integral part of the care delivery team. They manage a wide array of responsibilities, such as:

  • Providing a high acuity of patient care under the direction of a supervising physician in a surgery-related discipline

  • Examining, evaluating and treating patients with medical conditions, illnesses or injuries that may include invasive and interventional procedures

  • Performing in cross-functional roles, such as ICU, OR, PACU

  • Handling full rotation of care where providers perform pre-op and post-op procedures to monitor bedside care

  • Advising patients on the maintenance of good health

Rehab Therapy

At Emory Healthcare, rehab therapy team members partner with patients, families and the community to better the health of every individual. They provide comprehensive evaluations, treatments and education to patients/families that are consistent with each patient's individualized needs and carried out within an interdisciplinary environment. The vital rehab therapy team serves an imperative role throughout Emory Healthcare with an emphasis on the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine, Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory University Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital, and Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital. Opportunities include full-time, part-time and PRN.

The Emory Clinic Call Center Patient Services

At Emory Healthcare, members of our clinic patient services team thrive in an environment of customer service and patient advocacy. They are an important part of The Emory Clinic team and ensure patients and their families receive exceptional service when they call one of our outpatient clinics.

These vital team members are not only able to enter patient data while taking calls and have a working knowledge of computers, but they are also welcoming and professional in all interactions on the phone with patients and their families.

New members of the call center patient services team receive two weeks of classroom and interactive training covering such topics as patient registration and scheduling. Medical terminology and customer service are part of training during the first six months.

Members of the call center patient services team work eight-hour shifts between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. They are available to accept assignments at various locations across Emory Healthcare.

The Emory Clinic Front Desk Patient Services

Members of the front desk patient services team work eight-hour shifts between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. They are available to accept assignments at various locations across Emory Healthcare.
