The Emory Clinic (TEC) is a physician practice of more than 980 specialists, subspecialists and primary care physicians who care for patients at one of our many clinics, hospitals and affiliates throughout the Atlanta area. Representing the primary port of access to adult patient care in Emory Healthcare, The Emory Clinic is the largest and most comprehensive group practice in Georgia.

Program description
Within three to four years, depending on the individual’s ability to demonstrate the mastery of core competencies, each candidate will progress through the three phases below, resulting in the opportunity to fulfill a permanent leadership position. Team members have the opportunity to join an emerging leader network group, be assigned mentors and participate in continuing professional development.
 
Phase 1: Orientation/Up to 18 months

  • Build foundation
  • Understand overall operations and processes
  • Understand budget process and revenue cycle
  • Project-based assignments that are section or department specific

Phase 2: Core Rotation/Up to 30 months

  • Two to three assignments with nine to 12 months in each assignment
  • Learn how to run a clinic/section
  • Exposure to Emory University School of Medicine operations, research and residency
  • People management
  • Physician relationships
  • Financial management
  • Resource management

Phase 3: Run a Complex Clinic/Section/Up to 42 months

  • Assigned direct role as assistant administrator in defined clinic section
  • Work with Emory University School of Medicine operations
  • Determine clinical or business service path
  • For clinical path, begin exposure and build relationship with Emory University School of Medicine chair or senior clinic executive
  • Understand academic center workflow, exposure to research, grants accounting
  • Additional rotation – learn more complex specialties
  • Identify and hone skills and knowledge needed
  • Assigned related projects

Who should apply
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A master’s degree in business administration, health care administration or public health
  • Previous health care experience in system, inpatient or practice setting (preferred)
  • Excellent project management, organizational, communication, prioritization, financial and business management skills
  • Ability to establish working relationships, influence decisions, and think creatively and strategically

Spring Application Period:

  • Application acceptance period: Monday, March 4, 2013 – Friday, March 29, 2013
  • Interview process:  April – May
