The comprehensive ophthalmology section of Emory Eye Center offers primary eye care services for complete eye exams, screenings for disease and disorders, and refraction (to check for visual acuity) and subsequent prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses. Surgical evaluations are also conducted when appropriate.
Comprehensive ophthalmologists are specialists in medical and surgical first-line treatments for disorders such as macular degeneration, tumors of the eye, uveitis, cataracts, dry eye, conjunctivitis, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, inherited retinal diseases and other retinal problems. When a medical condition indicates, they will refer the patient to the care of an appropriate ophthalmology sub-specialist.
