Facelift/Mini-lift (Rhytidectomy)

Patients are often intimidated by facelifts—picturing people who’ve been pulled too tight or who look “done.” This fear makes a “mini facelift” seem more attractive to many. While a mini facelift may take less time, it may not address the concerns you have or be appropriate for you. The key to any facial procedure is to achieve a natural look. Dr. Sethna uses surgical precision and artistry to ensure you don’t look “done”—just naturally more beautiful and youthful.

A traditional facelift generally addresses laxity in the neck tissues, jowling along the jawline, and excess tissue in the lower half of the face. By making a small incision under the chin and tightening the muscles, Dr. Sethna re-establishes the “corset” of youth. Further incisions in front of and behind the ear facilitate redraping of the skin to restore a youthful jawline. These incisions require meticulous closure without tension to give a natural result and heal nicely in the curves along the ear and in the hairline.

Less invasive procedures, such as short-scar facelifts or mini-lifts, include portions of the above procedure with slightly shorter incisions or less dissection, but they are also dictated by the amount of laxity or jowling present.
