Counseling Services

Emory Family Medicine provides in-house counseling for all our patients. Dr. Kara McDaniel and Dr. Ashley Owen provide counseling for various conditions including depression, anxiety, stress management, family counseling, weight loss, and smoking cessation.

On average, the duration of therapy is approximately 12 sessions (50 minutes each); however, it could be more or less, depending on several factors, such as presenting problem(s), therapeutic goals, attendance and compliance, etc.

Since behavioral medicine services are currently not a part of Emory Healthcare´s managed care plans, the Department of Family Medicine charges a fee for service. Amounts charged are set individually, depending on financial need that are based also on the Federal Government Sliding Fee Scale. For more information, please contact the Family Medicine Clinics at Dunwoody, 404-778-6920.
