Emory’s General Thoracic Surgery Center is the only comprehensive thoracic surgery service in Georgia, providing clinical treatment at four North Georgia locations. To ensure that your patients receive the best, most appropriate care possible, complex cases are discussed in multidisciplinary conference. These sub-specialty teams provide expertise in a number of areas, including:
• Thoracic cancer (e.g., lung and esophageal cancer, mesothelioma)
• Swallowing conditions
• Chest abnormalities
• Chest wall conditions
• Hyperhidrosis
• Airway conditions
• Gastroesophageal reflux (GERD)
We do our best to schedule all appointments as soon as possible. Due to the time-sensitive nature of cancer treatment, we are committed to scheduling appointments for patients diagnosed with or suspected of having cancer within 48 hours of referral.
To refer a patient, please choose one of the following:

The following patient information is required for referral:
• Patient's name, address and telephone number
• Patient's date of birth
• Patient's social security number
• Diagnosis and date of diagnosis
• Prior treatment, if any
• An electronic copy (disk) of the patient’s most recent chest X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans and positron-emission tomography (PET) scans
• Biopsy tissue slides, if applicable
• Insurance information
