Monica B. Perkins is the Coordinator of Physician Services for the Division of Hospital Medicine.  Mrs. Perkins graduated Cum Laude from Peirce College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration where her concentration was Human Resource Management.  Mrs. Perkins is a distinguished member of the International Honor Society, Delta Mu Delta and current member of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management).

Prior to joining the Emory Hospital Medicine team, Mrs. Perkins worked as a Credentialing Specialist in System Credentialing, a division of Emory Healthcare where she obtained her CPCS certification (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist).  Mrs. Perkins has over sixteen (16) years experience in the Healthcare Industry.  Her career began with HealthDrive Medical and Dental Practices and later continued her experience with Independence Blue Cross.  In her past roles, Mrs. Perkins worked closely with multi-specialty practice group consisting of Dentists, Optometrists, Audiologists, Podiatrists and various industry professionals.  She served as a key liaison for HealthDrive communicating with Medicare, Medicaid, Directors of Nursing at Nursing Home Facilities and other guarantors to obtain approval for recommended health care.  During her career with Independence Blue Cross, Mrs. Perkins’s special projects consisted of working with such organizations as Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey to assure the proper assessment and/or official valuation of medical claims.

In her current role with Emory Hospital Medicine, Mrs. Perkins’s five and half years experience in credentialing still serves as an important and primary component for this Section.  This integral part of her responsibility guides physicians and non-physician practitioners through the credentialing process, adhering to Joint Commission and Managed Care standards.  Mrs. Perkins is passionate about streamlining processes and making them run efficiently.
