David Tong, MD, MPH, FASN

Dr. David Tong is Assistant Director of the Clinical Research Program for the Section of Hospital Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.

Dr. Tong obtained his medical degree from Duke University as a member of the AOA honor society and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Administration at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He did his residency training in Internal Medicine at Emory University and his fellowship in nephrology at Emory University. He subsequently stayed on as faculty in the renal division on the transplant nephrology service. Currently he is on faculty in the section of hospital medicine after working in private practice nephrology for two years.

He received the Pfizer fellow abstract award and has also received a National Kidney Foundation Fellowship Award and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons-Roche Clinical Scientist Award. His current research interests include translational immunology research in cystic fibrosis as well as models of health care delivery.
