John Vazquez, MD

John Vazquez is an Assistant Professor of Medicine for Emory University, and has been a hospitalist since 2005, and with Emory since 2007. His education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at New York University, then his M.D. at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, followed by Internal Medicine residency at Emory University. Dr. Vazquez founded the Hospitalist co-management program at the Emory University Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital in 2008, was Hospital Medicine Site Director at Emory University Hospital from 2009 to 2014, and Site Director of Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital from 2013 to 2015. Dr. Vazquez’s current role, which began in 2013, is to oversee the operations of the Emory Division of Hospital Medicine, which covers all of the Emory Hospital Medicine sites. He teaches and mentors Emory’s medical students and residents, and has specific academic interests in kidney stones, urologic emergencies for the hospitalist, Orthopaedic co-management, peri-operative care, and Venous Thromboemoblism in the hospital. While John enjoys many aspects of medicine, his favorite by far is the great honor of seeing patients on a daily basis.
