Gastroenterology Services

Emory Gastroenterology physicians and colorectal surgeons are fellowship-trained and board-certified in their specialties. They are experts in the medical and surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, cancer of the colon and rectum, diverticulitis, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, hepatitis, cirrhosis, esophageal and stomach cancer, and esophageal reflux disease.

Some of the procedures we provide include:

  • Colonoscopy - A procedure that examines the lower part of the digestive tract, including the large intestine and rectum
  • Navigational Bronchoscopy - A procedure to diagnose and treat pulmonary infections by finding and removing masses in the lungs
  • Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) - A procedure used to diagnose different lung disorders by allowing your doctor to examine and collect samples from the lungs
  • Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) - A procedure to examine the upper part of the digestive tract
  • ERCP- A procedure to diagnose and treat problems in the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas
  • PEG Tube Placement - A procedure in which a flexible feeding tube is placed through the abdominal wall and into the stomach, allowing nutrition, fluids, and medications to be put directly into the stomach, bypassing the mouth and esophagus
  • Stent Placement - A stent is a small tube made of plastic or metal that can be placed to open a blocked bile duct
  • Small Bowel Enteroscopy - A test performed to evaluate gastrointestinal bleeding, small bowel tumors, polyps, or other small bowel diseases
  • Bravo pH Monitoring - A 48-hour test to assess whether acid is coming back into the esophagus from the stomach causing pain, nausea, heartburn, and/or chest pain
  • Manometry Studies - A test that measures how well your esophagus works
