Stroke Treatment

Approximately 795,000 people in the U.S. experience a new or recurrent stroke each year. On average, someone suffers from a stroke every 40 seconds and a person dies as the result of stroke every 3.1 minutes, making stroke the third leading cause of death in the U.S. Stroke is a leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States, with approximately 4.7 million stroke survivors alive today.

Emory Johns Creek Hospital is home to a Joint Commission designated Primary Stroke Center, which means our patients receive the highest quality stroke treatments and care available.

A stroke is caused by a cessation of blood flow in the brain. This interruption of blood flow can be caused by either a blocked or ruptured blood vessel. This cessation in the flow of blood, and thereby oxygen and nutrition, to the brain causes the brain to start to die. It is critical that blood flow is restored as quickly as possible. Time is of the essence.

Our multidisciplinary team of stroke treatment experts at Emory Johns Creek’s Joint Commission designated stroke center is well prepared to provide the highest quality of stroke treatment in the most efficient manner possible.
