PACS update
New picture archival and communications system (PACS)
Our transition to the new GE PACS project is on track, with the following items in progress:
- Completed walk-throughs at all sites to evaluate and analyze workflows, modality integrations, necessary facility construction and training needs.
- Data migration of historical images continues with the goal having the most current 14 months of history available by the end of February.
- Integration initiatives and interface testing of GE PACS and Emory Electronic Medical Records (EeMR).
- PACS rollout:
- Timing
a. The first phase of the GE PACS rollout is currently targeted for mid-February 2010, which will include image acquisition at Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital (EUOSH), Wesley Woods, Executive Park, 1525 and Perimeter. The rollout will include interpretation of musculoskeletal images.
b. After the first phase, the project will move forward to Midtown, then Emory University Hospital (EUH), Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and the orthopaedic physicians at Executive Park. These phases will occur during later spring and early summer. More detailed communications will be published closer to the go-live dates. - Magic Web and PowerChart:
a. In order to ensure a seamless transition for clinicians, Magic Web remains the source for image viewing until all imaging acquisition sites are live. Once GE PACS is live throughout the system, we will begin a phased rollout of the GE Web viewing product, featuring an embedded training module. At that time, all images will be available via PowerChart. Watch for detailed announcements regarding this implementation in late summer of 2010. Announcements will include information regarding relevant timelines and training opportunities.
