Dr. Sanjay Gupta is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Emory University with a practice at Grady Memorial Hospital. He completed his neurosurgical training at the University of Michigan, followed by a fellowship at the Semmes Murphy Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee.

From 1997-1998, Dr. Gupta was a White House Fellow, one of 15 chosen in the country, serving primarily as an advisor to the First Lady and the President. In addition to his work at Emory, Dr. Gupta currently serves as CNN's medical correspondent, commenting daily on pertinent medical issues. He recently covered the war in Iraq, where he was embedded with the Navy's elite Devil Docs.

Dr. Gupta specializes in all facets of neurosurgical care, with a strong interest in complicated spine, trauma and 3-D image-guided operations. He has recently had articles published in the Journal of Neurosurgery and Neurosurgical Focus on percutaneous pedicle screw placement. He has also published on brain tumors and spinal cord abnormalities.
