Dr. Sanjay Gupta is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Emory University, and is Associate Chief of Neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital. He completed his neurosurgical training at the University of Michigan, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive techniques using image guidance navigation at the Semmes Murphy Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Neurosurgeons and the Congress of Neurosurgeons. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Neurosurgery and is board certified.

From 1997-1998, Dr. Gupta was a White House Fellow, one of 15 chosen in the country, serving primarily as an advisor to the First Lady and the President. In addition to his work at Emory, Dr. Gupta currently serves as CNN's medical correspondent, commenting daily on pertinent medical issues. He is also a special contributor to CBS 60 minutes, TIME magazine and Everyday Health. He has won multiple Emmy awards, a Peabody award and a DuPont award. He has been awarded numerous humanitarian awards and recognitions for outstanding journalism from several professional societies in medicine. Over the last decade, he has covered every major conflict around the world, including multiple assignments in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East. In Iraq, he was embedded with the Navy’s elite medical team, the Devil Docs.

Dr. Gupta specializes in all facets of neurosurgical care, with a strong interest in complicated spine, trauma and 3-D image-guided operations. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and three daughters.
