Pancreas Treatments

Enucleation is a surgical process during which only the tumor cells are removed, leaving the pancreas entirely intact. Enucleation is generally appropriate for neuroendocrine tumors such as insulinomas and gastrinomas that are smaller than 2 cm, are located on the surface of the pancreas, and have not spread throughout or beyond the pancreas.

Enucleation can be performed using an open or laparoscopic surgical approach, though the laparoscopic procedure is generally preferred due to a quicker recovery.
