Knock Knees & Bowed Legs Treatment

“Bowed legs” and “knock knees” are very common conditions in young children. It is common for babies and young toddlers to have bowed legs while slightly older toddlers and young children often have some mild knocked knees. Typically these types of issues resolve by the time children are approaching their eighth birthday and your physician may recommend simply watching your child until then. Some children do not grow out of bowed legs or knock knees, resulting in pain and/or difficulty in running and other activities. Problems can also be seen in the spine. These children can benefit from a new, minimally invasive surgical procedure called Guided Growth. The objective of this procedure is to allow natural, safe and gradual correction of limb alignment. Your pediatric orthopaedic surgeon will discuss if this is an appropriate option for your child.
