About Dr. Beckworth

Dr. Beckworth is board certified in Physiatry (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation), Electrodiagnostic Medicine and Pain Medicine. He has won multiple teacher of the year awards for the Emory Department of PM&R residency program where he is currently the associate residency program director. He is a research division member with the Spine Intervention Society. Previously he was a section editor for Spineline, a publication of the North American Spine Society.

He has been involved in two studies which both won the “best basic science study” in different years at the Spine Intervention Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting. In the first study, he was the primary author on a study looking at anomalous locations of the vertebral artery as it relates to cervical epidural injections. In the second study, he was a co-investigator in a study evaluating the injection of stem cells into painful degenerative discs.

Dr. Beckworth is currently involved in another stem cell study which is a phase III study (last phase before FDA approval). Dr. Beckworth has been invited as a board examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has an interest in lifestyle medicine and is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Beckworth is married and is the proud father of two girls.
